Chad Dennard Lucas (born November 7, 1981) is an American former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver, which is a player who catches passes from the quarterback. Chad Lucas started his professional career in 2004 with the Tennessee Titans. He also played college football at Alabama State.

Over his career, Lucas was part of several teams. These included the San Jose SaberCats, Green Bay Packers, Amsterdam Admirals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, Toronto Argonauts, and Omaha Nighthawks.

Chad Lucas's Early Life

Chad Lucas grew up in Tuskegee, Alabama. He went to Booker T. Washington High School. While there, he was a talented athlete in three different sports. He played football, basketball, and ran track. In his senior year, he was named to the All-Area team for both basketball and football. He also competed in the state track tournament.

College Football Journey

Chad Lucas started his college football career at Troy State. He played there for two years, from 2000 to 2001. After that, he moved to Alabama State. He finished his college career playing for Alabama State from 2002 to 2003.

In 2003, as a senior, he had a great season. He caught 46 passes, which was the most on his team. These catches gained 794 yards and led to five touchdowns. He played in all 13 games that year. The year before, in 2002, he played in five games. He caught 13 passes for 142 yards. During his time at Troy State, he caught six passes for 51 yards in 2001. In 2000, he had one catch for nine yards.

Starting with the Tennessee Titans

Playing for the San Jose SaberCats

After leaving the Titans, Lucas joined the San Jose SaberCats. This team was part of the Arena Football League. He played summer football with them.

Time with the Green Bay Packers

He caught 27 passes for a total of 440 yards. His strong play helped his team reach World Bowl XIV. When he returned to the United States, he was released by the Packers on August 29, 2006.

Joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On October 18, 2006, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Chad Lucas. He joined their practice squad. In 2008, he was an exclusive-rights free agent. This means only the Buccaneers could sign him. He signed a one-year contract with them on June 22.

Brief Stint with the St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams signed Chad Lucas on March 17, 2009. However, he was waived (released) by the team a few months later, on July 23, 2009.

Playing in Canada with the Toronto Argonauts

On July 28, 2009, Chad Lucas signed with the Toronto Argonauts. This team plays in the Canadian Football League. He played for them until he was released on September 16, 2010.
