Chandler James Jones, born on February 27, 1990, is an American professional football player. He plays as a defensive end. He played college football at Syracuse University. Early Life and High School Football
Chandler Jones grew up in Rochester, New York. He went to Union-Endicott High School. There, he was a star player on the high school football team. Experts thought he was one of the best young players in New York.
College Football Career
Chandler played college football for Syracuse University from 2008 to 2011. He didn't play much in his first year. But in his second year, he played in 12 games. He made 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
In 2010, as a junior, he had 57 tackles and four sacks. He also forced three fumbles. In 2011, his senior year, he played in only seven games because of an injury. Even with the injury, he was chosen for the All-Big East team. He had 39 tackles and 4.5 sacks that season.

New England Patriots
Starting Strong in 2012
As a rookie in 2012, Jones immediately became a starting defensive end for the New England Patriots. In his very first game, he caused a fumble that led to a touchdown. A week later, he sacked the quarterback and forced another fumble.
In Week 6, he had two sacks against the Seattle Seahawks. He also forced another fumble. By Week 8, he had six sacks for the season. In his rookie year, Jones played in 14 games and had 45 tackles. He also recorded six sacks and forced three fumbles. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Continued Success in 2013-2015
In 2013, Jones scored his first career touchdown. He recovered a fumbled snap in the end zone. He played all 16 games that year. He finished with 42 tackles and 11.5 sacks.
In 2014, Jones played in 10 games. He had 43 tackles and six sacks. He also blocked a field goal and returned it for a touchdown. This earned him the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award. Las Vegas Raiders
Joining the Raiders in 2022
On March 17, 2022, Jones signed a three-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. In Week 13, he had three sacks and earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
In Week 15, against his former team, the New England Patriots, Jones made a very memorable play. With the score tied, he intercepted a lateral pass and ran it back for the game-winning touchdown. This play was a huge moment for the Raiders. He later suffered an elbow injury that ended his season. He finished 2022 with 4.5 sacks and 38 tackles.
2023 Season
In September 2023, Jones had some personal challenges. He was later placed on the non-football illness list. He was released from the Raiders on September 30, 2023.
