Charazani, also known as Charasani, is a small town located high up in the Andes mountains of Bolivia, a country in South America. It is known for its unique culture and beautiful mountain scenery.

Where is Charazani?
Charazani is the main town of the municipality and the capital of Bautista Saavedra Province. It sits on a ridge at an elevation of 3,200 meters (about 10,500 feet) above sea level. This means it's very high up in the mountains! The town is nestled between two mountain ranges: Cordillera Muñecas to the south and Cordillera Apolabamba to the north. A small river, which flows into the Mapiri River, runs near the town.
Getting to Charazani
Charazani is about 254 kilometers (158 miles) northwest of La Paz, which is the capital city of the La Paz Department. To get there from La Paz, you would first take a paved highway called Ruta 2 for 70 kilometers to a town called Huarina. From Huarina, another paved highway, Ruta 16, goes southwest for 97 kilometers along Lake Titicaca until you reach Escoma. After Escoma, the road turns into a dirt road for the final 87 kilometers to Charazani.

Charazani has a lively weekly market. This market brings together sellers and buyers from all over the area. It's a very important place for the local economy, making Charazani the most important town for trade in the Charazani valley.
Who Lives in Charazani?
The number of people living in Charazani has grown over the years. In 2001, about 501 people lived there. By 2008, this number had increased to 604. The wider Charazani municipality, which includes the town and surrounding areas, has about 11,761 residents.
Languages and Culture
Most people in the Charazani municipality speak Quechua as their main language. About 76.5% of the people speak Quechua, and it is also taught in schools. Another 13% of the population speaks Aymara.
Charazani is very important to the Kallawaya people. The Kallawaya are a special group known for their traditional healing practices. Their culture and knowledge are so unique that they have been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. This means their traditions are protected and celebrated around the world.

Charazani has a highland climate, which means it's generally cool. The temperatures don't change much throughout the year. The average high temperatures are usually between 17.9°C and 20.0°C (about 64-68°F). The low temperatures range from 2.9°C to 8.6°C (about 37-47°F). The town gets most of its rain during the summer months, from January to March, and less rain during the winter months.
