Charger Bar (1968–1997) was an amazing Quarter Horse racehorse. She was born in 1968 and became the best Quarter Running Horse in the world in 1971. She also earned the title of Superior Race Horse from the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). After she passed away, she was honored by being added to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.

About Charger Bar

Charger Bar was a bay colored filly, which means she was a female horse. She was born in 1968. Her father was a horse named Tiny Charger. Her mother was La Ree Bar, whose father was a famous horse called Rocket Bar (TB). Charger Bar's grandfather on her father's side was Depth Charge (TB).

Her Racing Career

Charger Bar raced for six years, starting in 43 races. She was incredibly fast, winning 28 of those races! She also came in second place three times and third place six times. All her wins added up to a lot of money, earning her $495,437.00 in prize money.

In 1971, Charger Bar was unbeatable. She won every race she entered that year. Because of her amazing performance, she was named the World Champion Quarter Running Horse. She also beat another famous horse, Kaweah Bar, three times. Charger Bar was recognized as the best Quarter Running Mare for three years in a row: 1972, 1973, and 1974. She earned 144 racing points from the AQHA, which gave her the special title of Superior Race Horse.

Her Foals and Honors

After her racing career, Charger Bar became a mother. She had fourteen foals. Out of those, twelve of her children went on to race. Ten of them earned special awards called Register of Merits, and ten of them also won races. Some of her famous children included Proud Heritage, Go Proudly, and Blushing By. Together, her children earned over $626,076.00 on the racetrack!

Charger Bar passed away on November 26, 1997. Her ashes were spread over the middle part of the Los Alamitos racetrack, where she had so many victories. In 2001, she was officially inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame, a great honor for such a legendary horse.
