Charles Mark Cameron (born 5 July 1994) is a professional Australian rules football player. He plays as a forward for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Before joining the Lions, he played for the Adelaide Football Club from 2014 to 2017. Cameron was chosen by Adelaide in the 2013 rookie draft.

About Charlie Cameron
Early Life and Other Sports
Charlie Cameron was born in Mount Isa, Queensland. His family is Aboriginal Australian, from the Lardil and Waanyi groups. He went to primary school on Mornington Island. Later, he moved to Brisbane to attend Marist College Ashgrove.
As a schoolboy, Charlie was a talented athlete. He played cricket, rugby union, and rugby league at high levels. He also played some Australian rules football while at Marist College. For six months, he was part of the Brisbane Lions Talent Academy. However, he decided to focus on rugby instead. After finishing school in 2011, Charlie moved with his family to Newman, Western Australia. His brother, Jarrod Cameron, also played professional Australian rules football.
Starting His AFL Journey
While living in Newman, Charlie was convinced to play for the local football team, the Newman Saints. He started playing club football for the first time in 2012. He played so well that he was invited to join the Swan Districts Football Club. He played three games for their Colts team.
In 2013, Charlie had his first pre-season with Swan Districts. He impressed the coaches and earned a spot in the senior team. He also represented Western Australia in the 2013 AFL Under 18 Championships. Even though he had only played about 30-40 Australian rules football games, the Adelaide Football Club picked him in the rookie draft.
Charlie's AFL Career
Playing for Adelaide (2014-2017)
Charlie showed great skill in the SANFL during his first season. He was soon moved up to the senior team. He made his AFL debut in Round 9, 2014, against Collingwood. In that game, he kicked a goal and helped set up another. Despite a groin injury, Charlie played seven AFL games in 2014. He kicked nine goals, including three in one game against Fremantle. At the end of the season, he won the Crows' Mark Bickley Emerging Talent Award.
In 2015, Charlie became a regular player for Adelaide. He played 22 games, kicking 29 goals and helping with 17 others. He kicked a career-high four goals against the Gold Coast in Round 17. He also kicked the winning goal in Adelaide's final game against the Western Bulldogs. Charlie was nominated for the 2015 AFL Rising Star award. This was for his great game against the Brisbane Lions in Round 13.
In Round 9, 2017, Charlie had an amazing game against the Brisbane Lions. He kicked four goals in the third quarter. He also had another strong game the next week against Fremantle. In October 2017, Charlie asked to be traded to a team in Queensland. He wanted to play for Brisbane, even though he was still under contract with Adelaide. He was officially traded to Brisbane during the trade period.
Playing for Brisbane (2018-Present)
Charlie Cameron quickly became a key player for the Brisbane Lions. He helped them reach the finals from 2019 to 2022. He became known for his strong efforts in front of goal. A memorable moment was in the 2022 AFL semi-final against the Melbourne Demons. He marked the ball in the final minutes and kicked a goal. This helped the Brisbane Lions win against the reigning champions.
In the 2023 AFL Grand Final, Charlie kicked a goal that put the Lions ahead of Collingwood. However, Brisbane eventually lost that game.
During 2024, Charlie decided to sign a new contract with the Lions. He said it was an "easy decision" to stay with the club for the rest of his career. Charlie was part of the Brisbane Lions team that won the 2024 AFL Grand Final. He kicked a goal in their 60-point victory over the Sydney Swans. This was his third Grand Final appearance.
