Soda Stereo and Beyond

In 1982, Charly Alberti helped create the Argentinian rock band Soda Stereo. The band became incredibly popular across Latin America. They were one of the most important rock bands from the region.

In 1997, Soda Stereo played their last concert in Buenos Aires. After the band split, Charly continued to work on new projects. Steve Jobs, who co-founded Apple, named Charly an AppleMaster. This made Charly the only Spanish-speaking AppleMaster ever. He also started a company called Cybrel Digital Entertainment. It focused on new technology for digital content.

In 2005, Charly formed a new band called MOLE. His brother Andrés Alberti played guitar in the band. MOLE released their first album in 2007. In 2008, MOLE won an award for Best Album by a New Rock Band. They even shared the stage with the British band Oasis in 2009.

In 2017, Charly became a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. Development Program. This means he helps the United Nations with their environmental goals.

In 2019, Soda Stereo reunited for a special tour called "Gracias Totales." During this tour, the band did something amazing. They planted 4,700 native trees to help balance their carbon footprint. This was one of the first Latin American tours to do this.

In 2024, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) chose Charly Alberti as a Regional Goodwill Ambassador. He now represents the Caribbean and Latin America for UNEP.
