Website Discover Chicopee

Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort is a super fun place in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada! It started way back on December 29, 1934, as a club for winter sports. It's a not-for-profit place, which means it focuses on providing great experiences rather than making money. The resort covers a huge area of 165 acres (0.67 km2).

This awesome resort is known for its winter sports like alpine skiing, snowboarding, and even a cool tubing park where you can slide down hills on a tube! The highest point of the ski hill is 200 ft (61 m) above the base. On average, it gets about 133 centimetres (52 in) of snow each year, so there's usually plenty of fresh powder.

But Chicopee isn't just for winter! When the snow melts, it turns into a fantastic summer spot. You can play tennis and volleyball, try out exciting high and low ropes courses, or challenge yourself on a 30 feet (9.1 m) rock-climbing wall. There's also an 18-hole disc golf course, cool mountain bike trails, and a BMX course called PINES Bridge Park.

Chicopee also runs awesome summer and winter camps. They even host special events for companies, helping teams work better together with fun activities.

Fun Programs and Camps

Chicopee has many cool programs in the winter for all ages. You can join the Snow School to learn how to ski or snowboard. There's also a Downhill Racing program if you want to learn how to race in Slalom or Giant Slalom events. The Track-3 program helps people with disabilities enjoy winter sports. You can join these programs weekly, or during special Christmas and March Break camps.

Safety and Lift Operations

Chicopee takes safety seriously. Sometimes, lifts might stop unexpectedly. For example, on December 29, 2010, about 40 people on the Sugar Bowl lift needed help getting down. On January 2, 2013, an electrical problem stopped the North chair lift, and about 100 people were safely rescued using special rope harnesses. These events show how the resort's staff are trained to handle situations and ensure everyone's safety.
