Sir Charles Maclean (27th Chief)

Sir Charles Maclean was the 27th chief. He was born in 1916 and passed away in 1990. He was a very important person, serving as the Lord Chamberlain to the Queen and also as the Chief Scout of the British Commonwealth. In 1970, he was given the special title of Lord Maclean.

Sir Fitzroy Maclean (26th Chief)

Hector was only set free when he agreed to destroy all his ships.

Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean (14th Chief)

Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean was the 14th chief. Born in 1558, he was known as the 10th Laird of Duart. Sadly, he was killed in battle on August 5, 1598, at the Battle of Traigh Ghruinneart.

Lachlan Cattanach Maclean was the 11th chief, born in 1473. He was known as Lachlan the Hairy and was the 7th Laird of Duart. He was murdered in 1523.

Eachuinn Ruadh nan cath Maclean was the 6th chief, born in 1354. His name meant Red Hector of the Battles. He was a brave warrior who led the right side of the army of the Lord of the Isles at the Battle of Harlaw in 1411. He was killed in a duel during this battle.

Lachlan Lubanach Maclean was the 5th chief, born in 1325. He was known as Lachlan the Cunning and was the very first Laird of Duart. It was through his marriage that Duart Castle became part of the Maclean clan's lands.
