Chris Carr is an American basketball player who used to play professionally. He was born on March 12, 1974. Today, he is an assistant basketball coach at Drury University. One exciting moment in his career was competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1997. He even made it to the final round, where he competed against the famous Kobe Bryant.

Chris Carr's Early Life
Chris Carr grew up in Ironton, Missouri. He went to Arcadia Valley High School. While there, he played high school basketball.
College Basketball Years
Chris Carr played college basketball for the Southern Illinois Salukis. He played for them from 1992 to 1995. During his time, his team won the MVC Tournament championship. This happened in both 1994 and 1995.
He was also chosen for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament All-Tournament Team. This honor was given to him in both 1994 and 1995. In 1995, Chris Carr was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. That same year, he was the top scorer in the Missouri Valley Conference. He averaged 22.0 points per game. He also received the award for Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1995.
In 2006, Chris Carr was honored by being added to the Southern Illinois Salukis Hall of Fame.
Playing in the NBA
Chris Carr was chosen by the Phoenix Suns in the 1995 1995 NBA draft. He was the 56th player picked overall in the second round. He played for six seasons in the NBA, which is the top professional basketball league.
He played for several teams during his NBA career. These teams included the Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics. In 1997, he participated in the NBA Slam Dunk competition. After his time in the NBA, he played professionally overseas. He played in the Greek Basket League for AEK Athens. He also played for the Serbian and Montenegrin League club Lavovi 063.
Life After Playing: Coaching
After finishing his career as a professional basketball player, Chris Carr became a basketball coach. In 2003, he started his own basketball training academy. It was called 43 Hoops and was located in Hopkins, Minnesota.
From 2010 to 2015, he worked as the head coach for the girls' varsity team at Eden Prairie High School. His team had a great record, winning 106 games and losing only 34. After that, he became an assistant coach for the Kansas State Women's Wildcats. He coached them from 2015 to 2021. Since 2021, he has been an assistant coach for the Drury Men's Panthers.
