Chris Richard (born December 25, 1984) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He played as a power forward or center. These players usually play close to the basket. They are important for scoring points and getting rebounds.
Chris played college basketball for the University of Florida. He was a key player on their team. He helped them win two national championships in a row.
Chris Richard's College Basketball Journey
Chris Richard was a star player in high school. In 2003, he was named "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Florida. This award goes to the best high school basketball player in Florida.
He then went on to play for the Florida Gators. He was known for his impressive wingspan of 7 feet, 4½ inches. This long reach helped him grab many rebounds. Chris often came off the bench as a "sixth man". This means he was usually the first player to come into the game from the substitutes. He played a big role in the Gators winning the NCAA national championships in both 2006 and 2007. In his final college game, he scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Chris Richard was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2007. He played 52 games with them during the 2007–08 NBA season.
Later, he joined the Chicago Bulls during the 2009–10 NBA season. He played 18 regular season games for the Bulls. After his time with the Bulls, he also played for the Liaoning Dinosaurs in China.
