Club Career Highlights
Playing for Schalke 04

Christian Pander started playing football at a young age. He joined several youth teams before becoming part of the Schalke 04 youth system. This is where many young players train to become professionals.
He made his first team debut for Schalke 04 on 19 September 2002. It was a UEFA Cup match, and Schalke won 4–1. In 2004, he officially joined the main team. His first game in the Bundesliga, Germany's top league, was on 6 August 2004. He scored his first professional goal on 18 September 2004 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Pander faced many injuries during his time at Schalke. For example, he missed the entire 2005–06 season because of a knee injury. He returned to play in November 2006 after 18 months. Despite injuries, he showed his skill. In the 2006–07 season, he scored two goals in 16 games.
In the 2007–08 season, Pander started strong. He scored in a cup match and then again in a league game against Borussia Dortmund. He signed a new contract with Schalke, keeping him until 2011. Injuries continued to affect his playing time, but he still managed to play 26 games and score two goals that season.
The 2008–09 season also started well for Pander. He even scored a goal in a Champions League qualifier against Atlético Madrid. However, more injuries kept him off the field. His last game for Schalke was in May 2009 when he injured his knee again. He played 23 games and scored two goals that season.
He missed most of the 2009–10 season due to his knee injury. In the 2010–11 season, he made a comeback in December 2010. But another injury, this time to his toe, ended his season early. After this season, his contract with Schalke 04 was not renewed.
Moving to Hannover 96
On 19 June 2011, Christian Pander joined another German club, Hannover 96. He signed a one-year contract. He made his debut for Hannover 96 in the first game of the season.
Pander quickly made an impact at his new club. He scored two goals in the UEFA Europa League group stage. On 23 October 2011, he scored his first league goal for Hannover against Bayern Munich. His good performance led to a contract extension until 2015. He played 44 games and scored four goals in his first season with Hannover.
In the 2012–13 season, Pander scored in a UEFA Europa League qualifier. However, injuries continued to be a challenge for him. He played 27 games that season. The 2013–14 season also saw him deal with injuries. He suffered a ligament injury and twisted his knee, which kept him out for months. Despite this, he played 10 games.
His last season, 2014–15, was also affected by injuries. He played only nine games. At the end of this season, his contract with Hannover 96 ended. Pander had mentioned he might want to finish his career playing in America.
