Christian Pander started his youth football journey at several clubs. These included SC Nienberge, 1. FC Gievenbeck, and SC Greven 09. He then joined Preußen Münster. Later, he became part of the youth system at Schalke 04.

He made his first team debut for Schalke 04 on September 19, 2002. This was in a UEFA Cup match against Gomel, which Schalke won 4–1. He played for 17 minutes in that game. The next season, he also played in another UEFA Cup match.

In 2004, Pander officially joined Schalke 04's main team. His first game in the Bundesliga (Germany's top league) was on August 6, 2004. It was a 1–0 loss to Werder Bremen. He scored his first professional goal on September 18, 2004. This helped Schalke win 3–2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Dealing with Injuries

Christian Pander faced many injuries during his career. In April 2005, he hurt his knee and missed the rest of the season. He signed a new contract until 2008, but he didn't play at all in the 2005–06 season because he was recovering.

He finally returned to playing on November 5, 2006. This was after being out for 18 months. He scored two goals that season, but another injury kept him out for two months. Despite injuries, he played 16 games and scored twice.

In the 2007–08 season, Pander started strong. He scored in a cup game and also in a big 4–1 win against Borussia Dortmund. He signed a contract extension with Schalke until 2011. However, injuries continued to affect his playing time throughout that season. He still managed to play 26 games and score two goals.

The 2008–09 season also started well for Pander. He scored a goal in a Champions League qualifying match against Atlético Madrid. He also scored in a UEFA Cup game. But once again, injuries kept him off the field. His last game for Schalke was in May 2009, when he injured his knee again. He played 23 games and scored two goals that season.

Pander missed almost all of the 2009–10 season due to his knee injury. He returned briefly in December 2010 for the 2010–11 season. After only four games, he got a toe injury. This injury kept him out for the rest of that season. At the end of the 2010–11 season, his contract with Schalke 04 was not renewed.

In January 2012, he extended his contract with Hannover until 2015. He had a good season, playing 44 games and scoring four goals.

In the 2012–13 season, Pander scored in a Europa League qualifying game. Hannover won that match 3–0. However, injuries again limited him to 27 games that season.

The 2013–14 season was also tough due to injuries. He played in the first game but then suffered a ligament injury. He returned in December 2013 but quickly twisted his knee again. He made only 10 appearances that season.

His last season, 2014–15, was also affected by injuries. He played only nine games. After this season, his contract with Hannover ended, and he left the club. Christian Pander had mentioned he might want to finish his career in America.
