Christian Marquise Wood (born September 27, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Christian is known for playing as a power forward or center. Before joining the Lakers, he played for several other NBA teams. These include the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks. He also played college basketball for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.

Christian Wood's Early Life and High School Basketball
Christian Wood started his high school journey at Los Alamitos High School. He then moved to Knight High School in Palmdale, California for one year. For his final year, he transferred to Findlay College Prep in Henderson, Nevada. At Findlay Prep, he was part of a team that won 54 games in a row. They also won an ESPN National High School Invitational championship in 2012. Experts ranked him as one of the top players in his age group.
Christian Wood's College Basketball Career
Wood played college basketball at UNLV from 2013 to 2015. In his first year, he played in 30 games. He averaged about 4.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. During his second year, he played in 33 games. He greatly improved, averaging 15.7 points and 10 rebounds per game. He also blocked about 2.7 shots per game. Because of his great performance, he was named to the First-team All-Mountain West. After this successful season, Wood decided to enter the 2015 NBA draft to become a professional player.

Christian Wood's journey in the NBA has seen him play for many teams. He started his professional career in 2015.
Starting with the Philadelphia 76ers (2015–2016)

Even though many thought he would be drafted, Christian Wood was not picked in the 2015 NBA draft. He then joined the Houston Rockets for the NBA Summer League. Later, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. He made his NBA debut in October 2015. During his first season, he also played many games for the Delaware 87ers. This team is part of the NBA G League, which helps players develop their skills.
Playing for the Charlotte Hornets (2016–2017)
In July 2016, Wood signed with the Charlotte Hornets. He played his first game for the Hornets in November 2016. He helped them win against the Indiana Pacers. Like before, he also spent time playing for the Greensboro Swarm. This was another team in the NBA Development League.
Time with the Milwaukee Bucks (2018–2019)
Christian Wood joined the Milwaukee Bucks in August 2018. He played for them until March 2019.
Joining the New Orleans Pelicans (2019)
Soon after leaving the Bucks, Wood was picked up by the New Orleans Pelicans. This was a big chance for him to play more. He showed what he could do, scoring 23 points and getting 9 rebounds in one game. He also had 6 blocks and 3 steals, showing his all-around skills.
Playing for the Detroit Pistons (2019–2020)
In July 2019, Wood joined the Detroit Pistons. He played a key role for the team. In March 2020, Christian Wood tested positive for COVID-19. He was one of the first NBA players to be publicly known to have the virus. He recovered well.
His Time with the Houston Rockets (2020–2022)
In November 2020, Wood was traded to the Houston Rockets. He signed a big contract with them. In his first game with the Rockets, he scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. This was a fantastic start! Later, he got an ankle injury, which made him miss some games. In March 2022, he had his best game ever, scoring 39 points. He also made 8 three-pointers in that game.
Moving to the Dallas Mavericks (2022–2023)
Christian Wood was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in June 2022. He made history by scoring at least 25 points in his first two games with the team. No other Mavericks player had done that before! On Christmas Day 2022, he had a great game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He scored 30 points, got 8 rebounds, and had 7 assists.
Playing for the Los Angeles Lakers (2023–Present)
In September 2023, Wood signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. During the 2023–24 season, he averaged about 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He had a left knee injury that kept him from playing for the last two months of the season. He had surgery on his knee in March 2024. He chose to stay with the Lakers for another season and had another knee surgery in September.
