The long-flowered rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus depressus) is a type of flowering plant found in North America. It belongs to the sunflower family, which is a very large group of plants.
This plant grows naturally in the southwestern United States. You can find it in states like California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado.
What it Looks Like
The long-flowered rabbitbrush is a shrub that branches out. It can grow up to 50 centimeters (about 20 inches) tall.
This plant produces many small yellow flower heads. These flower heads grow close together. Each flower head has disc florets, which are the tiny tube-shaped flowers in the center. However, it does not have ray florets, which are the petal-like flowers you see on the outside of a daisy or sunflower.
Where it Lives
You can find the long-flowered rabbitbrush in dry places. It likes canyons and rocky crevices. These are cracks or narrow openings in rocks.
It grows in areas like the Mohave Desert and the Colorado Plateau. These are dry regions with unique landscapes.
