The Church of San Juan is a beautiful old church found in a small village called San Juan. This village is on Chiloé Island in Chile. People also call it the Church of San Juan Bautista de San Juan de Coquihuil.
This church is part of the Roman Catholic faith. It was finished being built around the year 1887. That means it is over 130 years old!
A Special World Heritage Site
The Church of San Juan is very important because it is one of 16 traditional wooden churches on Chiloé Island. These churches are so special that they were named a World Heritage site in 2000. This means they are protected by the UNESCO because they are important to everyone in the world.
Why These Churches Are Unique
These churches are famous for their special way of being built. It's called the Chilota School of Religious Architecture on Wood. Imagine building huge churches almost entirely out of wood!
