Clare College is one of the colleges that make up the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. It was started in 1326 as University Hall. This makes it the second-oldest college still around at the University, right after Peterhouse.
In 1338, the college was given more money and support by Elizabeth de Clare. Because of her, it was renamed Clare Hall. Today, Clare College is well-known for its amazing chapel choir. It's also famous for its beautiful gardens. These gardens are located on "the Backs," which are the areas behind the colleges that look out over the River Cam.
Clare College is a very popular choice for students who want to study at Cambridge. Many people apply to join this college each year. As of 2016, it had a lot of money to support its activities, over £106 million.
