Cook's Prairie is another historic area in the northeastern part of the township. It also reaches into nearby Eckford Township. This was one of the first places where people settled in Clarendon Township. Anthony Doolittle arrived here in May 1832. A post office was set up in 1840 but closed in 1858.

Clarendon: A Railroad Stop

The community of Clarendon became important around 1870. It was a station on the Michigan Air Line Railroad. This railroad was part of the Michigan Central Railroad. The post office from Clarendon Centre moved here in 1871 and was renamed Clarendon. It closed for a while but reopened from 1883 to 1910.
