How it Got its Name
The name Shad Cam has an interesting story. The Cooper Family, who lived nearby, gave it this name. It was named after a Scottish fisherman. He once told the Coopers, "Why, boys, in those days the shad came up to that point." Shad are a type of fish. So, the name tells us that these fish used to swim all the way to this point in the lake.
