Claude Patrick (born June 14, 1980) is a Canadian retired mixed martial artist. He used to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He fought in their Welterweight division.

Early Life and Training

Claude Patrick was born and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario. This city is close to Toronto. His parents came from Jamaica. Claude started learning martial arts when he was thirteen. He first took karate lessons. After that, he began training in Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu. He continued to use these styles throughout his career. He went to Port Credit Secondary School in Mississauga.

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Claude Patrick started his professional fighting career in 2002. He competed in smaller fighting groups. These included King of the Cage Canada and The Fight Club. In 2006, he moved to Montreal, Quebec. He trained there for eight months with famous fighter Georges St-Pierre. Before joining the UFC, Claude had a great record. He won 11 fights and lost only 1.

Fighting in the UFC

In March 2010, the UFC announced they had signed Claude Patrick. He agreed to a four-fight contract.

His first UFC fight was on June 12, 2010, at UFC 115. He fought against Ricardo Funch. Claude won the fight in the second round. He used a move called a guillotine choke to make his opponent give up.

Next, Claude fought TUF 9 winner James Wilks. This fight was at UFC 120 on October 16, 2010. Claude won by a unanimous decision. This means all the judges agreed he won.

Claude then faced Daniel Roberts at UFC 129. This fight happened on April 30, 2011. Claude won again by unanimous decision. It was a close fight, but he won the first two rounds.

At UFC 140, Claude replaced an injured fighter. He fought Brian Ebersole on December 10, 2011. Claude lost this fight by a split decision. This was his first loss in the UFC.

Claude was supposed to fight James Head at UFC 149 on July 21, 2012. However, Claude got injured and could not fight. Another fighter took his place.

After his injury, Claude did not fight for two years. He hoped to fight again at UFC 174 in Vancouver, British Columbia. But he never had a fight scheduled for that event.
