The Clear Fork is a stream in Tennessee, United States. It is also known as the Clear Fork River or Clear Fork Creek. This stream is about 27.2-mile-long (43.8 km). It flows through part of the Cumberland Plateau.

The Clear Fork is a branch of the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. It is also part of a much larger water system. This system includes the Cumberland River and the Ohio River. All these rivers eventually flow into the Mississippi River.

Where the Clear Fork Starts

The Clear Fork begins on the Cumberland Plateau. This is in the southern part of Fentress County, Tennessee. The stream is made up of two main parts. These are called the North Prong and the South Prong. Many smaller streams also flow into it.

North and South Prongs

The North Prong of the Clear Fork drains an area. This area is next to and east of U.S. Highway 127. The South Prong is a bit further east. It and its smaller streams form an important border. This border is between Fentress County and Morgan County.

Journey of the River

The Clear Fork flows through different areas. It eventually reaches Scott County. Here, it flows through an area where oil is found.

Meeting Other Rivers

The Clear Fork then meets the New River. After these two streams join, they become known as the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. The upper parts of this combined river are a special place. They are part of a National Recreation Area. This area is great for outdoor activities.

Rugby Colony and Recreation

The old English settlement of Rugby, Tennessee, is located above the Clear Fork valley. This town was started in the late 1800s. It was a place for younger sons of noble English families. They came seeking new chances. Swimming in the Clear Fork's pools was a fun activity for the people of the "Rugby Colony."
