Clermont is a small town located in Marion County, Indiana, in the United States. It is part of both Pike and Wayne townships. In 2020, about 1,384 people lived there.
Since 1970, Clermont has been an "included town" within Indianapolis. This means it's legally part of Indianapolis but still has its own local town government. Clermont is famous for Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. This raceway has a top-notch short-track oval and hosts the biggest American drag racing event, the NHRA U.S. Nationals.

History of Clermont
The first post office in Clermont opened in 1831. The town itself was officially planned out in 1849. When it was first created, it had a different name: "Mechanicsburg."
Where is Clermont Located?
Clermont is in the western part of Marion County. To its west, you'll find the town of Brownsburg in Hendricks County.
Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 136 (also known as Crawfordsville Road) goes through the northern part of Clermont. This road leads about 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest to the center of Brownsburg. It also goes about 34 miles (55 km) to Crawfordsville. If you travel southeast from Clermont, you'll reach Downtown Indianapolis in about 10 miles (16 km).
