History of Coin
Coin is located in a part of Brunswick Township known as section 35. This area once had its own post office. The post office was open for a few years, from 1898 to 1904.
How Coin Got Its Name
The name Coin was suggested by a man named Ole E. Olson. He was a storekeeper and the postmaster in the community. He chose the name in 1896. This was during a big national discussion about money, specifically about whether the United States should use both gold and silver coins for its money supply. This debate was very important at the time, and a famous politician named William Jennings Bryan was a key figure in it.
