Conan the Adventurer is an exciting animated TV show. It was made in the United States, France, and Canada. The series is based on the famous character Conan the Barbarian. This character was created by Robert E. Howard in the 1930s.

The show first aired on September 13, 1992. It had 65 episodes and ended on November 22, 1993. Christy Marx helped create the show and wrote many of its stories. The series was produced by Jetlag Productions and Sunbow Productions. It also led to a small toy line made by Hasbro in 1992. This cartoon version of Conan was very popular. It did much better than a later cartoon called Conan and the Young Warriors.

Conan's Adventure Begins

Conan grew up in Cimmeria with his family. One night, strange meteors fell from the sky. Conan collected them and brought them home. His father, a blacksmith, used the metal from these meteors. He called it Star Metal. This special metal would never rust, break, or get dull.

Conan's father made many tools and weapons from Star Metal. He kept his best work, a magnificent sword, for Conan. The sword was hidden under a heavy stone slab. Conan's father told him he could only claim it when he was strong enough to move the stone.

The Evil Wizard Wrath-Amon

An evil wizard named Wrath-Amon learned about Star Metal. He knew it could open portals to other dimensions. Wrath-Amon wanted to use it to free his god, Set. Set was a powerful serpent god. Long ago, other wizards had banished Set to a place called "the Abyss." Set wanted to return and enslave all humans.

Wrath-Amon searched for Star Metal. He found Conan's family. Conan's father said he had sold all the Star Metal. But Wrath-Amon did not believe him. He was right, as Conan's father had hidden some pieces with other villagers. Wrath-Amon then used a terrible spell. He turned Conan's family into living stone.

Conan rushed to get his Star Metal sword. He wanted to fight Wrath-Amon. When the sword got close to the wizard, it broke his magic. It showed Wrath-Amon's true reptilian face. The wizard then said, "Those who see the true face of Wrath-Amon must perish!" Conan chased him away. He then swore to his god Crom that he would free his family.

Conan's Quest and the Serpent Men

Conan's adventures began as he searched for a way to break the spell. He also wanted to free the land from Wrath-Amon's evil rule. Wrath-Amon's helpers were shapeshifting Serpent Men. They could look like humans. But Conan's Star Metal sword would reveal their true form. When Star Metal touched a Serpent Man, it sent them to the Abyss with Set.

Unlike the original Conan stories, the cartoon Conan is more like a hero for kids. He refuses to steal or hurt unarmed enemies. He is kind and caring. He always stands up for his friends and what is right.
