Connor Ryan Swindells is an English actor and model. He became well-known for playing Adam Groff in the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education. This popular show ran from 2019 to 2023.

Since then, he has also starred in the BBC One war drama SAS: Rogue Heroes, which started in 2022. Connor has appeared in several movies, including The Vanishing (2018), Emma (2020), Barbarians (2021), and the hit film Barbie (2023).

Early Life and School

Connor Ryan Swindells was born in Lewes, a town in East Sussex, England. He is the youngest of four sons. His mother passed away when he was seven years old.

After this, Connor and his father moved to live with his grandparents in West Chiltington. Later, they moved to Billingshurst. Both of these places are in West Sussex. Connor went to Rydon Community College and Steyning Grammar School. He decided to leave college when he was 17 years old.

Becoming an Actor

Connor Swindells started acting because of a dare! He saw a poster for auditions for a local play. A friend dared him to try out, and he ended up getting the main role.

After that first play, he acted in two more local plays. By the end of the third play, he signed with an agent. This meant he had someone to help him find acting jobs.

In 2017, Connor was chosen for the movie The Vanishing. This was a psychological thriller film. He played a character named Donald. The movie was shown at a film festival in 2018 and came out in cinemas in 2019. Connor also starred in the 2018 drama film VS., where he played Adam.

Starring in Sex Education

In 2019, Connor Swindells became very famous for his role in the Netflix series Sex Education. He played Adam Groff. Adam is the headmaster's son and starts off as a bit of a bully. He has a difficult relationship with his father. Connor acted alongside other popular young actors like Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Asa Butterfield, and Gillian Anderson in the show.

Other Roles and Movies

Connor also appeared in the film Emma in 2020. The next year, he was in Barbarians (2021). He also played Lieutenant Simon Hadlow in the 2021 BBC One crime drama Vigil.

In 2022, Connor took on a main role in the World War II series SAS: Rogue Heroes. In this show, also on BBC One, he plays David Stirling.

Connor also had a part in Greta Gerwig's movie Barbie. In this film, he worked again with his Sex Education co-stars Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey. He also has a role in the Netflix film Scoop.

Personal Life

Since 2020, Connor Swindells has been in a relationship with actress Amber Anderson. She also appeared in the film Emma. They got married in the Scottish Highlands in October 2024. Their wedding was led by Alistair Petrie. Interestingly, Alistair Petrie plays Connor's father in the TV show Sex Education.
