Her Marriage and Children

In 1260, Constance married Infante Manuel of Castile in a city called Soria. Manuel was the second son of Ferdinand III of Castile, another powerful king, and his first wife Elisabeth of Hohenstaufen.

Constance and Manuel had two children together:

  • Alfonso Manuel (born around 1260 or 1261). Sadly, Alfonso died young in 1276 in Montpellier, France, without having any children of his own.
  • Violante Manuel (born in 1265, died in 1314 in Lisbon, Portugal). Violante became the lady of Elche and Medellín. She married Afonso of Portugal, Lord of Portalegre around 1287. Afonso was the son of Afonso III of Portugal.

Constance's Later Life

Constance of Aragon passed away in 1269. After her death, her husband Manuel of Castile remarried in 1274 or 1275 to Beatrice of Savoy. Manuel and Beatrice had a son named Juan Manuel, Prince of Villena. Since Constance's son, Alfonso, died young, Juan Manuel became the main heir to his father's titles and lands.
