The Copper Mountains are a cool mountain range found in Elko County, Nevada, in the United States. Imagine a group of mountains standing together – that's a mountain range!

Most of these mountains are located inside the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. This is a huge national forest, like a giant park, managed by the government. A small part, including a peak called Coon Creek Peak, is in a different section of the forest called the Jarbidge Ranger District.

Exploring the Copper Mountains

This mountain range has some special peaks that have their own names. The tallest one is called Copper Mountain. It's the highest point in the whole range! There are also two other named peaks, Silver Mountain and Coon Creek Peak.

Some people think the Copper Mountains are actually a smaller part of the larger Jarbidge Mountains. Think of it like a family of mountains, where the Copper Mountains are a smaller group within the bigger Jarbidge family.

Where are they located?

The Copper Mountains are surrounded by different valleys and rivers. To the north, you'll find the valley of Coon Creek. If you look to the east, you'll see Copper Basin. To the southeast, there's the valley of Copper Creek.

The Bruneau River valley is located to the south, southwest, and west of the mountains. The main part of the Jarbidge Mountains is further away, to the east and northeast. So, the Copper Mountains are nestled right in the middle of these interesting natural features!
