Cora Randolph Trimble (born May 29, 1871 – died December 31, 1946) was an American socialite. This means she was a well-known person in high society. She lived during a time called the Gilded Age in the United States. The Gilded Age was a period from about 1870 to 1900. It was known for fast economic growth and many wealthy families.

Cora's Early Life

Cora was born on May 29, 1871. She grew up in a family home called Brookwood. This home was in Mount St. Vincent, right on the Hudson River.

Her father was Edmund Dutilh Fitz Randolph. He worked as a banker and an insurance executive. Her mother was Helen Earle Randolph. Cora also had siblings, including a sister named Mary Welsh Randolph.

Cora's family, the Fitz Randolphs, had a long history in America. They first settled in Cape Cod in the 1600s. Her uncle was Wallace F. Randolph. He was a U.S. Army major general. He became the first Chief of Artillery for the U.S. Army.

Life in Society

In 1892, Cora was included in a famous list. This list was called "The Four Hundred". It was created by Ward McAllister. This list was supposed to name New York's most important families. The New York Times newspaper published the list. The number 400 was chosen because that was how many people could fit into Mrs. Astor's large ballroom.

Cora was also a founding member of the Colony Club. This was a very important women's club in New York. She was also a member of other historical societies. These included the Huguenot Society, The Mayflower Society, and the Colonial Dames of America.

Cora's Family Life

On February 14, 1900, Cora married Richard Trimble. Their wedding took place at Trinity Church. Richard Trimble worked with J.P. Morgan & Co.. He later became the secretary and treasurer for the United States Steel Corporation.

Cora and Richard had three children together:

  • Richard Trimble Jr. (died 1941). He was the captain of the crew team at Harvard College in 1926. He married Winifred Loew.
  • Margaret Randolph Trimble (1901–1968). She married Count Giovanni Revedin in 1939. He was an Italian diplomat.
  • Mary Trimble. She married Perry R. Pease.

Cora Randolph Trimble passed away on December 31, 1946. She died at her home in New York City. She was buried in the Westbury Friends Cemetery in Westbury, New York.
