Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a fun kart racing game released in 2019. It was made by Beenox and published by Activision. This game is a new and improved version, called a remaster, of the classic Crash Team Racing from 1999.

In Nitro-Fueled, you pick one of many characters from the popular Crash Bandicoot series. Then, you race against others on exciting tracks. You can use special power-ups to help you win or slow down your opponents. The game also includes extra content from Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing. Plus, it adds cool new features like customizing your kart and different ways to play the adventure mode.

Nitro–Fueled came out on June 21, 2019, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Many game critics liked it a lot. They praised how it played, the controls, the graphics, and how much content it had. They also liked that it stayed true to the original game.

How to Play the Game

Just like the first Crash Team Racing, Nitro-Fueled is a racing game. You get to play as characters from the Crash Bandicoot world. Your goal is to race to the finish line while avoiding obstacles.

You can make your kart go faster by doing special moves like power sliding and jumping. There are also power-ups on the track that give you a boost or mess with your rivals. You can play quick races by yourself or with friends at home. There are also different battle modes and online multiplayer.

The game has a full adventure mode where you unlock new areas, characters, and boss battles as you play.

New Features and Modes

Nitro-Fueled has all the fun stuff from the original Crash Team Racing. But it also adds many new things. You can play online with other people, which was not in the old game. You can also pick different karts and make them look unique.

The adventure mode is also updated. It has new story scenes. You can choose between "Classic" and "Nitro-Fueled" adventure modes. In "Nitro-Fueled" mode, you can change your character and kart between races. You can also pick how hard you want the game to be.

A new "Ring Rally" mode was added later. In this mode, you drive through rings on a track to get more time. You need to keep going before your timer runs out!

More Content from Other Games

Nitro-Fueled brings in a lot of content from Crash Nitro Kart. This includes all its characters, race tracks, battle areas, karts, and battle modes. It also adds characters and kart skins from Crash Tag Team Racing.

You can get these new items from the Pit Stop. This is an in-game shop where you use "Wumpa Coins" to buy unlockables. You earn Wumpa Coins by playing the game.

Grand Prix Events

After the game launched, Nitro-Fueled had special "Grand Prix" events every month for a limited time. Each event came with a free update that added a new race track. During these events, players could complete challenges on the new tracks. This helped them earn "Nitro Points."

If you got enough Nitro Points, you could unlock new characters, karts, and cool customization items. If you missed out, the content became available to buy in the Pit Stop later. There were eight Grand Prix events in total, from July 2019 to March 2020.

Characters to Race With

Nitro-Fueled has a huge roster of 56 playable characters! This includes every racer from all the previous Crash racing games. Even characters who were only bosses before, like Spyro, are now playable.

When you first start the game, only eight characters from the original Crash Team Racing are ready to play. You can unlock other Crash Team Racing characters by playing through the adventure mode and finishing challenges. All the other characters can be bought from the Pit Stop.

At launch, the game had 26 characters. Many more were added later through free updates. These included all the racers from Tag Team Racing and Nitro Kart 2. Plus, some characters appeared for the first time as racers in a Crash game.

New racers include characters like Tawna, N. Brio, Koala Kong, and the Lab Assistant. There are also baby versions of Crash, Coco, Cortex, and N. Tropy. Even guest characters like Hunter and Gnasty Gnorc from the Spyro series joined the fun!

How the Game Was Made

After the game Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy came out, many people thought Crash Team Racing would also get a new version. This was because N. Sane Trilogy was a collection of improved versions of the first three Crash Bandicoot games.

The game was officially announced at The Game Awards 2018 on December 6, 2018. It was set to be released on June 21, 2019. The company Beenox developed the game.

Just like the N. Sane Trilogy, Nitro-Fueled was built again from scratch. This means they made new graphics and added online play. They also included all the characters, tracks, and battle modes from Crash Nitro Kart. Some karts and character skins from Crash Tag Team Racing were added too. Players can even choose between the original music or the new remastered soundtrack!

Game Release Details

If players ordered the game before it came out, they got special "Electron" character skins for Crash, Coco, and Cortex. There was also a special "Nitros Oxide Edition" of Nitro-Fueled. This version gave players instant access to the Hovercraft kart and characters like Nitros Oxide, Crunch, Zem, and Zam. It also included the pre-order skins and other unique character skins and kart options.

The PlayStation 4 version of Nitro-Fueled had its own special content. This included exclusive skins for Crash, Coco, and Cortex that looked like their original blocky appearances. It also had low-poly karts and a bonus track called Retro Stadium.

On July 30, 2019, Activision announced that players could buy "Wumpa Coins" in the game. These coins are used to unlock new characters, karts, and other items. This feature was added on August 8.

Later, there were promotions with candy brands like Sour Patch Kids and Trident Vibes. These gave codes for candy-themed kart items. A special vehicle called the "Firehawk" was also released as paid content in October 2019. This helped support the Call of Duty Endowment.
