Crescent Lake is a beautiful lake located in Maine, USA. It stretches across two towns: Casco, Maine in the north and Raymond, Maine in the south. This lake used to be called Rattlesnake Pond.

Exploring Crescent Lake
Crescent Lake gets its water from two smaller ponds, Coffee Pond and Dumpling Pond, which are located north in Casco. The water then flows south through the lake.
Water Flow and Connections
The water from the southern end of Crescent Lake flows out into the Tenny River. This river then carries the water about 1 mile (1.6 km) further south to another lake called Panther Pond. It's like a chain of water bodies connected together!
Fun Activities at the Lake
If you love being on the water, Crescent Lake is a great spot! The town of Raymond has a special boat ramp. You can find it on Maine State Route 85 at the lake's southern end. This makes it easy for people to launch their boats and enjoy the lake.
Fish That Live Here
Crescent Lake is home to many different kinds of fish. You can find Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and white perch swimming in its waters.
Deep Water Fish
Even though the deeper parts of the lake can have less oxygen in the summer, some fish still do well there. This is because the water forms layers, and the bottom layer can have less oxygen. This layering is called a thermocline. Despite this, fish like cusk and rainbow smelt thrive in Crescent Lake.
