Cusick is a small town in Pend Oreille County, Washington, United States. In 2020, about 153 people lived there. The town's name in the Salish language is čmq̓ʷoqnú.
Cusick is important because it is the main center for the Kalispel Indian Community of the Kalispel Reservation. This is a federally recognized tribe in the United States.
History of Cusick
Cusick is built on the land where a large village of the Pend d'Oreilles tribe once stood. Long ago, as many as 1,000 people lived in this area.
The modern town of Cusick was started in 1902 by a person named Joseph W. Cusick. The town officially became a recognized town on March 15, 1927.
