Custer is a small village located in Mason County, in the state of Michigan, United States. In 2020, about 272 people lived there. The village is part of Custer Township.

Custer's History
Custer was first planned out in 1878. This process is called "platting." It means they drew up maps for streets and lots. Later, in 1895, it officially became a village. This is known as "incorporation." The village was named after a famous person, George Armstrong Custer.
Where is Custer?
Custer is located in the middle of Mason County. It is about 3 miles (5 km) east of Scottville. It is also about 11 miles (18 km) east of Ludington. Ludington is the main city and county seat of Mason County. The village covers an area of about 1.06 square miles (2.76 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
