Daniel James Howell (born 11 June 1991) is an English YouTuber, presenter, comedian, and author. He became famous through his YouTube channels, especially Daniel Howell (which used to be called danisnotonfire). This channel has over six million subscribers! He also has another popular channel called DanAndPhilGAMES.

Daniel is also well-known for working a lot with Phil Lester. They are an entertainment duo called Dan and Phil. Together, they hosted a Sunday night show on BBC Radio 1 from 2013 to 2014. They also had a special slot called Internet Takeover from 2014 to 2016.

Early Life and School

Daniel Howell grew up in Winnersh, Berkshire, England. He has a younger brother named Adrian. Adrian also started a YouTube channel in 2018.

When Daniel was 16, he worked at a store called Focus DIY. Later, he worked at a supermarket called Asda. He was also part of the Wokingham Youth Theatre when he was younger. After finishing school in 2009, Daniel took a year off. During this time, he started making videos for his YouTube channel just for fun. In 2010, he went to the University of Manchester to study law. But he left in 2011 because he wasn't interested in it. Instead, he decided to become a full-time radio presenter and video blogger.

Daniel uploaded his very first YouTube video, "HELLO INTERNET," on 16 October 2009. His friends, including Phil Lester, encouraged him to keep making videos.

He also has a second channel called danisnotinteresting. This channel has over 1.7 million subscribers. On this channel, he used to broadcast weekly live shows.

In 2012, Daniel won a YouTube competition called "SuperNote." This competition was run by famous YouTubers Rhett and Link. He also appeared in a weekly video series called Becoming YouTube. This series looked at what it takes to become an internet celebrity. Daniel also wrote a blog for The Huffington Post about how he created his videos.

On 1 May 2017, Daniel announced that he had changed his main YouTube channel's name. It went from danisnotonfire to Daniel Howell. He explained that the old name was causing some problems.

From 2019 to 2022, Daniel took a break from his YouTube channel. He made only a few public appearances during this time. For example, he announced he had bought a home with Phil Lester in 2021. He was working on new projects behind the scenes. In May 2022, he uploaded a video called "Why I Left YouTube" to explain his break. After this, he started a YouTube series called Dystopia Daily. DanAndPhilGAMES

On 12 September 2014, Daniel and Phil started a new gaming YouTube channel called DanAndPhilGAMES. For a while, it was the fastest-growing channel on YouTube! As of December 2023, it has 2.8 million subscribers.

Some popular series on this channel include their Sims 4 videos, Spooky Week, and Gamingmas. The channel took a break from December 2018 to October 2023.

When DanAndPhilGAMES returned in 2023, they released a funny video called "Saying Goodbye Forever." It showed a fake funeral for the channel. Daniel and Phil were among several early YouTubers who returned that year.

DanAndPhilCRAFTS

On 1 April 2015, Daniel and Phil launched another channel called DanAndPhilCRAFTS. This was an April Fools joke! It had only one video where they made square snowflakes out of paper. The video had a funny, amateur style. In just one week, the channel gained over 154,000 subscribers. The phrase "Don't cry, craft" became a popular Internet meme from that video. It was even called "one of the best known YouTube phrases of all time." The channel received a YouTube Silver Play Button in 2015.

On 1 April 2016, they made a second video for the channel. This one was another joke tutorial about making glitter faces. On 1 April 2017, a third video called "Potato Prints" was uploaded. On 1 April 2024, the channel returned with a video called 'Slime'. This video focused on the spooky parts seen in their earlier craft videos.

Radio Shows

In January 2013, Daniel and Phil became presenters for BBC Radio 1's Sunday evening show. They had worked with the station before, making videos for its YouTube channel. The show was very interactive. It featured music videos from listeners, challenges for the presenters, and song requests. Just four months after starting, their show won the Sony Golden Headphones award.

Daniel and Phil also presented at the Teen Awards in 2013 and 2014. They were part of the BBC's online coverage and their Radio 1 show.

In August 2014, it was announced that their last "Dan and Phil" show would be on 24 August. The duo then moved to a new show on Monday nights. This new show, called The Internet Takeover, featured Daniel and Phil live on the first Monday of every month. It ended in April 2016.

In 2015, Daniel and Phil had small voice roles in the UK cinema version of Walt Disney Animation Studios' Big Hero 6. They voiced Technician 1 and 2. Books and Tours

The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire and The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire

On 26 March 2015, Phil Lester and Daniel Howell announced they had written a book together. It was called The Amazing Book Is Not on Fire (TABINOF). The book was released in the UK in October 2015. It quickly became a top seller on the Sunday Times Bestsellers list. It also became a No. 1 New York Times Bestseller for young adult books.

In the same announcement, they shared news about their stage show. It was called The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire (TATINOF). This show traveled around the UK in late 2015. During the tour, they sang an original song called "The Internet Is Here". They later released this song to raise money for charity.

In 2016, they took the tour to the US and Toronto. It was the biggest tour ever done by YouTube creators. They also toured Australia in August 2016. Finally, they performed in Europe, including Sweden, Berlin, and Dublin.

YouTube Red Originals and Dan and Phil Go Outside

In October 2016, The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire was released as a film. It was a YouTube Red Original movie. They also released a documentary called Dan and Phil's Story of TATINOF. They were the first British YouTube creators to release content on the YouTube Red platform.

Along with these films, they released a photo book in November 2016. It was called Dan and Phil Go Outside. This book included personal photos and stories from their tour. The book also became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller.

In November 2017, Phil Lester and Daniel Howell announced their second tour. It was called Interactive Introverts. This was a world tour that took place in 2018. The tour ran from April to September. We're All Doomed!

When Daniel returned to YouTube in May 2022, he announced his first solo tour. It was titled We're All Doomed!. The tour started on 10 September 2022, and ended on 3 March 2023. He traveled around the UK, Europe, US, Australia, and New Zealand. In January 2024, Daniel announced two final shows for the tour. These shows were recorded to make a film version of the show. Terrible Influence

In June 2024, Phil Lester and Daniel Howell announced their third joint tour. It was their first tour since their gaming channel returned. The tour is called Terrible Influence. It will begin in September in Antwerp. The tour will continue through autumn into 2025. It includes dates in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK and Ireland. More UK dates were added in July because so many people wanted tickets.

In 2014, Daniel Howell and Phil Lester's brother, Martyn, started a company together. It's called IRL Digital, Ltd. This company creates and sells merchandise for many different online personalities.

Games

In August 2015, Daniel and Phil created an app called The 7 Second Challenge. This app was based on a popular YouTube challenge that Phil started. The app was no longer available after 2019. In October 2017, the duo released a party board game. It was called Truth Bombs, and it was also Phil's idea.

Personal Life and Well-being

Daniel Howell and Phil Lester first met online in 2009. They met in person that October. They have lived together since August 2011. First, they lived in Manchester, then they moved to London in July 2012.

In October 2017, Daniel posted a video called "Daniel and Depression." In it, he shared that he had experienced a period of sadness. He talked about how he got better. This included getting help and focusing on taking care of himself. Daniel uploaded the video one day after World Mental Health Day. He and Phil supported #HelloYellow, a mental health campaign. Daniel became an ambassador for the organization YoungMinds. That same year, Daniel also supported an anti-cyberbullying campaign called Stop, Speak, Support.
