Dan van Husen (born April 30, 1945 – died May 31, 2020) was a German actor. He started his acting journey in the 1960s. He became well-known for playing "bad guys" in many Spaghetti Western films.
Dan van Husen also acted in movies from Italy and Germany. He worked with famous directors like Federico Fellini and Werner Herzog. Later, he appeared in Hollywood films. In 2008, he had a role in a Dutch World War 2 movie called Winter in Wartime.

Dan van Husen's Acting Journey
Dan van Husen was first discovered by Italian movie producers. He was working as a disc jockey in Spain at the time. He started acting more seriously in the late 1960s.
Early Roles in Westerns
He quickly became busy in the film world. In just six or seven years, he acted in twenty "Italo Westerns." These were Western movies made in Italy. From 1968 to 1974, he was in over 24 of these films. He often played the villain or "bad guy" in about 90% of his roles.
Working with Famous Directors
Dan van Husen worked on many other films too. He was in Fellini Casanova by Federico Fellini. He also appeared in Salon Kitty and Nosferatu the Vampyre. The last one was directed by Werner Herzog.
He also acted in popular German TV shows. These included The Old Fox and Derrick. He often played tough or tricky characters. For example, he was in the TV disaster film Tsunami.
From Europe to Hollywood
In the 2000s, Dan van Husen started working on bigger international projects. In 2001, he was part of Band of Brothers. This was a TV series produced by Steven Spielberg. He also acted in Enemy at the Gates and Hart's War.
In 2008, he worked on Winter in Wartime. This was a Dutch film based on a popular book. In 2010, he filmed Scarlet Worm in California. He played the main bad guy, Heinrich Kley.
In 2011, he acted in Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He was also invited to several film festivals. He received a special award for his work in Western films. This award was given at the Almería Western Film Festival in Spain.
His Passing
Dan van Husen passed away in May 2020. He died from COVID-19 in Ilminster, England. He was 75 years old.
