Daniel Risch was born on March 5, 1978. He is a politician from Liechtenstein. He served as the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein from 2021 to 2025. Before becoming Prime Minister, he was the Deputy Prime Minister from 2017 to 2021. He worked under the government of Adrian Hasler during that time.

Growing Up and Learning
Daniel Risch went to the Liechtenstein Grammar School in Vaduz from 1990 to 1998. There, he earned a business baccalaureate, which is like a high school diploma with a focus on business.
After high school, he studied business administration. He attended universities in Switzerland (the University of St. Gallen and the University of Zurich) and in Munich, Germany (the Ludwig-Maximilian University). He studied from 1999 to 2003 and earned a degree in economics from the University of Zurich.
In 2004, Daniel Risch started working on his doctorate degree. This is a very advanced university degree. He studied business informatics at the University of Freiburg. From 2006 to 2007, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Melbourne in Australia for research. During this time, he also taught at the University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern Switzerland. He finished his doctorate in economics in 2007.
Before Becoming Prime Minister
After finishing his studies in 2007, Daniel Risch worked at Unic AG. This company helps businesses with online services. He was a project manager, head of sales, and chief marketing officer there. He worked in Zurich and Bern.
From 2015 until he joined the government in 2017, he was the Chief Marketing Officer at Liechtensteinische Post. This is Liechtenstein's postal service. From 2015 to 2017, he was also on the board of a group called IKT Forum Liechtenstein. This group focuses on information and communications technology.
Leading Liechtenstein

After the 2017 Liechtenstein general election, Daniel Risch was chosen to be the Deputy Prime Minister of Liechtenstein. He was part of a government that included two main political parties. As Deputy Prime Minister, he was also in charge of areas like infrastructure, economic affairs, and sports.
The 2021 Liechtenstein general election was very close between his party, the Patriotic Union, and another party. On March 25, 2021, Daniel Risch was appointed as the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein. He led a new government with the leader of the other party, Sabine Monauni.
Important Work as Prime Minister
As Prime Minister, Daniel Risch supported closer teamwork between the European Union and the European Free Trade Association. He also worked to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to help the environment.
His government strongly supported Ukraine after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. He was one of the leaders who signed the June 2024 Ukraine peace summit agreement.
From November 2023 to May 2024, Liechtenstein was in charge of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. This is an important group for European countries. During this time, Daniel Risch and Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler started a project called the Book of Europe. Leaders from 33 of the 46 member countries wrote their ideas for Europe in this book, which was published in February 2025.
Laws and International Connections
During his time as Prime Minister, an important law was passed. In November 2022, the Landtag of Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein's parliament) asked the government to create a law allowing same-sex marriage. This idea had a lot of support from different political groups. A bill to legalize same-sex marriage was introduced in February 2024. It passed its final vote in the Landtag on May 16, 2024, with a vote of 24 to 1.

Daniel Risch also strongly supported Liechtenstein joining the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF is an organization that helps countries with their money and economies. His government started the process for Liechtenstein to join in 2024. Liechtenstein officially joined the IMF on October 21, 2024, after a successful public vote the month before.
In February 2024, Daniel Risch announced that he would not run for re-election in the 2025 Liechtenstein general election. He was succeeded by Brigitte Haas on April 10, 2025.
Personal Life
Since 2009, Daniel Risch has been involved with the FL1.LIFE festival in Schaan. He helps with planning and organizing this event.
He is married to Jasmin Schädler, and they have two children together. He lives in Triesen.
