Daniel Ellis Roberts (born November 13, 1997) is an American track and field athlete. He is known for his amazing skills in sprinting and hurdling. Daniel won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships for the 110-meter hurdles event.

Becoming a Professional Athlete

Daniel Roberts became a professional athlete in 2019. He represents the state of Kentucky in his competitions.

In October 2024, Daniel joined the first season of Grand Slam Track. This new track and field league was started by the famous sprinter Michael Johnson.

Daniel has achieved many great things in his professional career. In 2019, he won first place at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He ran the 110 meters hurdles in just 13.23 seconds.

As of September 2024, Daniel holds a special record in Suzhou, China. He ran the 110-meter hurdles there in 13.12 seconds. This was a very fast time for that track!

College Athletics: NCAA Achievements

Before turning professional, Daniel Roberts was a star athlete in college. He competed for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was recognized four times as an All-American athlete. This means he was one of the best college athletes in the country.

Daniel also won one Southeastern Conference championship. His time in the 110-meter hurdles is one of the fastest ever for a US college athlete. He set new records for the University of Kentucky. He worked with great coaches like Tim Hall and Edrick Floréal.

In 2019, Daniel won the 110 hurdles at the Drake Relays. He also tied a record at the Southeastern Conference meet. He finished the 110-meter hurdles in an incredible 13.07 seconds.

Early Life and High School Sports

Daniel Roberts graduated from Hampton High School in 2016. Before that, he attended Starr's Mill High School in Peachtree City.

In the fall of 2015, Daniel had a serious knee injury while playing American football. He tore several ligaments in his knee. After his surgery, he started wearing long tights to cover his scars.

Daniel comes from a very athletic family. His brothers played NCAA football in college. His sister, Alicia Roberts, ran track and played NCAA Volleyball.

During his high school years, Daniel showed great talent in many events.

High School Track and Field Highlights

  • In 2015, he placed second in the 110 meters hurdles at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor event.
  • At the Georgia High School Association 4A state championship in 2015, he won three gold medals:
    • 100 meters hurdles (1st place)
    • 300 meters hurdles (1st place)
    • Triple jump (1st place)
  • In 2014, representing Luella High School, he took second place in the 110-meter hurdles at the 6A state championship.
  • He also placed fourth in the triple jump at the 6A state championship in 2014.
