Daniel Dwight Tosh (born May 29, 1975) is an American comedian, writer, and producer. He is known for his stand-up comedy and for hosting the TV show Tosh.0. After finishing college, Daniel moved to Los Angeles to start his comedy career.
His career really took off in 2001 after he performed on the Late Show with David Letterman. This led to appearances on other national TV shows. Two years later, he had his own 30-minute special on Comedy Central Presents. From 2009 to 2020, Tosh hosted the Comedy Central series Tosh.0. This show featured popular Internet video clips with Daniel's funny comments. He also went on several comedy tours from 2010 to 2015.

Early Life and Education
Daniel Tosh was born in Boppard, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany. His parents were American. He grew up in Titusville, Florida, where his father was a minister. After graduating from Astronaut High School in 1993, Daniel went to the University of Central Florida. He earned a degree in marketing in December 1996.
After college, Tosh moved to Los Angeles. He decided to pursue comedy because he felt growing up in Florida, which he described as "flat, hot, and dumb," inspired his humor.
Daniel Tosh's Comedy Career
Daniel Tosh began performing in comedy clubs right after college. In 1998, he was featured as one of the "New Faces" at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. His comedy act was even shown on TV in 2000 from Montreal.
His big break came in 2001 when he performed on the Late Show with David Letterman. After that, he appeared on many other shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He also hosted a local comedy show in Florida called Tens.
In 2003, Daniel had his own 30-minute special on Comedy Central Presents. Later, in 2007, Comedy Central aired his stand-up special called Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious. He also hosted an episode of Comedy Central's Live at Gotham.
Daniel Tosh had a small role in the movie The Love Guru in 2008. He also voiced a character named Theo in an episode of The Life & Times of Tim.
In 2011, his special Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts premiered on Comedy Central. It was watched by over 3 million viewers and was later released on DVD.
Daniel Tosh was also an executive producer and voiced the character "Malloy" in the animated TV show Brickleberry. The show ran for three seasons. In 2013, Forbes magazine estimated his net worth at $11 million, making him one of the top-earning comedians from ticket sales.
The Tosh.0 Show
Daniel Tosh's popular Comedy Central show, Tosh.0, first aired on June 5, 2009. The show was famous for featuring funny Internet video clips. Daniel would add his own comedic commentary and sometimes create new skits based on the videos. The show was very popular and ran until 2020.
Tosh Show Podcast
In November 2023, Daniel Tosh started a podcast called Tosh Show. You can find it on YouTube and Apple Podcasts. The podcast follows a common format, where Daniel talks with guests in his studio. His neighbor from Tahoe, Eddie, who also helped create Tosh.0, is behind the camera and sometimes joins in. The podcast also includes video clips from the internet. New episodes come out every Tuesday.
Daniel Tosh's Personal Life
Daniel Tosh has one brother and two sisters. He married writer Carly Hallam on April 15, 2016, in a private ceremony in Malibu, California. They have two children together.
Helping Others
Daniel Tosh has used his comedy to help others. He participated in a show to support the family of comedian Greg Giraldo after he passed away. He also helped raise money for disaster relief in Alabama.
He has hosted an annual stand-up show called "Tosh Saves The World." This show has featured other famous comedians like Bo Burnham and Kumail Nanjiani. All the money raised from these shows goes to different charities.
