Darcy Tucker (born on March 15, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played most of his career in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Darcy was chosen in the sixth round of the NHL draft. He started his NHL journey with the Montreal Canadiens. He also played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Colorado Avalanche. Darcy Tucker was born in Castor, Alberta, but he grew up in Endiang, Alberta. He is also of Métis descent.

Darcy Tucker's Hockey Journey

Darcy Tucker was a special player because he was part of three Kamloops Blazers teams that won the Memorial Cup. These big wins happened in 1992, 1994, and 1995. He was one of only three players to achieve this.

In 1996, Darcy played for the Fredericton Canadiens in the American Hockey League (AHL). He won an award called the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award. This award is given to the best rookie player in the AHL.

Joining the NHL Teams

The Montreal Canadiens picked Darcy Tucker in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 151st player chosen overall. In 1998, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played there for three seasons.

Then, in 2000, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was traded to the Maple Leafs for another player, Mike Johnson. Darcy played many seasons with the Maple Leafs.

Later Career and Retirement

On June 24, 2008, the Maple Leafs ended Darcy's contract early. This made him a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team. On July 1, 2008, he signed a two-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

On October 1, 2010, Darcy Tucker announced he was retiring from professional hockey. He had played for 14 seasons in the NHL. After retiring, he continued to be involved in hockey. He worked as an agent, helping other players with their careers.

In 1998, Darcy Tucker married Shannon Corson. Shannon is the sister of another former NHL player, Shayne Corson. Shayne and Darcy were teammates on the Maple Leafs for three seasons. Darcy and Shannon have three children together.
