In 2010, about 409 people lived here. The heart of Darlington was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. This means it has special buildings and areas that are important to history.

The southern part of Darlington is a special area called the Darlington Historic District. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Early Travel and Trade
In the past, Darlington was an important stop for travelers. It had a stagecoach line that went to Baltimore. A lot of goods and people traveling from the Susquehanna River and the Tidewater Canal also passed through the community.
Important Buildings and Changes
The Darlington Academy was built in 1836. It became a well-known school in Harford County. Much later, in 1928, the Conowingo Dam was built. This made it much easier for people to cross the Susquehanna River.

It also has special classrooms for students with autism. After elementary school, students usually go to Havre De Grace High School, as there is no high school in Darlington itself.
Local Events and Services
Every year, Darlington hosts a popular apple festival. It takes place on the first Saturday in October and attracts nearly 60,000 visitors! The community and nearby areas get fire and emergency medical services from the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company.

The Darlington public library moved in October 2022. It is now at the intersection of Maryland Route 136 and U.S. Route 1.
