Darrell Keith Miller Sr. (born February 26, 1958) is a former professional baseball player from the United States. He played for the Los Angeles Angels, mainly as a catcher and outfielder, from 1984 to 1988. He is also a Catholic deacon. He was the first African American to become a deacon in the Diocese of Orange.

As of 2021, Darrell Miller works as the director of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Academy. This academy helps young people learn and play baseball. It is located in Compton, California.

Darrell Miller's Baseball Career

Before playing in Major League Baseball (MLB), Darrell Miller played baseball in college. He spent three seasons playing for California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California.

The California Angels team chose him in the 1979 baseball draft. He played his entire professional career with this team. He played in 224 MLB games. In these games, he had a batting average of .241. This means he got a hit about 24.1% of the time he was at bat.

He hit 8 home runs and had 35 runs batted in (RBIs). An RBI means he helped a teammate score a run. In 1986, Miller and the Angels team reached the American League Championship Series. They played against the Boston Red Sox but lost the series.

Darrell Miller comes from a family of famous athletes. His sister, Cheryl Miller, and brother, Reggie Miller, are both in the Basketball Hall of Fame. He went to Ramona High School in Riverside, California, during the 1970s.

Darrell Miller is married to Kelly Miller. They have three children named Darrell Jr., Nicole, and Cameron. Miller became a Catholic later in his life. In October 2021, he became a Catholic deacon. He was the first African American to be ordained as a deacon in the Diocese of Orange.
