Darrell Reid is an American former professional football player. He was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Darrell was born on June 20, 1982. He grew up in Freehold Borough, New Jersey, and went to Freehold High School. He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. In 2005, the Indianapolis Colts signed him. He was part of the team that won Super Bowl XLI.

Darrell's College Football Journey
Darrell Reid played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He played from 2000 to 2004. He was a starter for all four years. When he first joined Minnesota, he played as a linebacker. In 2001, he changed to play as a defensive tackle.
During his third year, he was the team leader in sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback. He had 5.5 sacks that season. In 2004, Darrell switched positions again. He became a defensive end. He led Minnesota in sacks again with 7.5. Because of his great effort, he was named to the 2004 All-Big Ten Second-team.
Playing in the NFL
Joining the Colts
After college, the Indianapolis Colts signed Darrell Reid in 2005. He was an undrafted free agent. This means he was not chosen in the NFL draft but was still signed by a team. He played as a defensive tackle for the Colts.
Darrell also sometimes played as a fullback. This happened in special plays near the goal line. He was also a key player on special teams. Special teams are groups of players who play during kickoffs and punts.
In 2007, Darrell Reid and the Colts won Super Bowl XLI. This was a huge achievement for him and the team.
Moving to the Broncos
On February 28, 2009, Darrell Reid joined the Denver Broncos. He signed a contract to play for them for three years. He continued his career as a professional football player with the Broncos. He played for them until 2010.
