Darren Keefe Daye (born November 30, 1960) is an American former professional basketball player. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, he played as a shooting guard and small forward.

High School Basketball Star
Darren Daye played high school basketball at John F. Kennedy High School in Los Angeles. He was a really talented player. In 1979, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the McDonald's All-American Game. This is a special game for the best high school basketball players in the country.
Playing for the West team, Darren scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. This is called a "double-double" and shows how good he was at both scoring and getting the ball back. Even with his great effort, his team lost the game by just one point.
College Career at UCLA
After high school, Darren Daye went on to play college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He played there from 1979 to 1983. UCLA is known for having a very strong basketball program.
Professional Basketball Journey
Darren Daye was chosen by the Washington Bullets in the 1983 NBA draft. He was the 57th player picked overall. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for five seasons, from 1983 to 1988.
He played for the Washington Bullets, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics. His last NBA season was with the Celtics in 1987–88. One of his most memorable games was in 1987. He helped the Celtics win a tough playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored important points in double overtime, including the winning free throws.
After his time in the NBA, Darren played basketball overseas. He played in countries like Italy, France, and Israel. He continued his professional career until he retired in 1997.
Family Life
Darren Daye has a son named Austin Daye. Austin also became a professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Gonzaga University. In 2009, Austin was drafted by the Detroit Pistons. He even won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. They beat the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Finals.
