Dash Point is a small community in Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is an "unincorporated community," which means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Because of this, there are no official population numbers for Dash Point.

Dash Point is mostly a place where people live. It is surrounded by the Puget Sound to the north. To the east, you'll find Dash Point State Park. The city of Tacoma is located to the south and west. Dash Point is just across Commencement Bay from downtown Tacoma.

Since Dash Point is not a city, it depends on Tacoma for all its services. It does not have its own town center. Even though Dash Point itself is in Pierce County, Dash Point State Park is actually in the next county over, King County.

History of Dash Point

Before it was called Dash Point, this area had a few different names. Some of these names included lson Landing, Fairview Beach, and Woodstock Beach. No one is completely sure how the name Dash Point came to be. However, it was officially marked as Dash Point on maps by the year 1877.

The land that is now Dash Point State Park was sold by the McLeod family. They sold it to the State of Washington in the late 1940s. The state wanted to use the land to create a park. This park was officially opened and developed in 1962. It was ready just in time for the Seattle World's Fair that year.
