David Foley (born January 4, 1963) is a Canadian actor, comedian, and writer. He is famous for being one of the founders of the comedy group The Kids in the Hall. He is also well-known for his role as Dave Nelson in the TV show NewsRadio and as the voice of Flik in the Disney and Pixar movie A Bug's Life.
Foley has appeared in many other movies and TV shows. He played Troy in Blast from the Past and had roles in shows like The Middle, Hot in Cleveland, and Young Sheldon. He also played the character Danish Graves in the fifth season of the TV series Fargo.

Early Life and Beginnings
Dave Foley was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, on January 4, 1963. His father, Michael, was a steamfitter, a person who works with pipes that carry steam. His mother, Mary, was from Stafford, England.
Foley left high school to become a stand-up comedian. He started taking classes in improvisational comedy, which is a type of comedy where performers make up scenes and jokes on the spot. There, he met Kevin McDonald, who would become an important part of his career.

The Kids in the Hall
In 1984, Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson formed a comedy group called The Kids in the Hall. They created a popular sketch comedy TV show of the same name, which ran from 1988 to 1995. In the show, Foley played many funny and memorable characters.
The group also made a movie in 1996 called Brain Candy. Foley rejoined the group in 2000 for many reunion shows and projects, including the 2010 series Death Comes to Town.

After The Kids in the Hall, Foley starred in the American sitcom NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999. He played Dave Nelson, the news director at a radio station in New York City. The show's creator, Paul Simms, was a big fan of Foley and wrote the part just for him.

For many years, Foley dealt with depression. In 2014, he had a serious head injury after a fall. After his recovery, he said that his health improved. He is a big fan of coffee and has joked that he drinks many cups a day. This was even used as a character trait for his role on NewsRadio.
