Dave Foley (born January 4, 1963) is a Canadian actor, comedian, director, producer, and writer. He is famous for being a co-founder of the comedy group The Kids in the Hall. This group has appeared in many TV shows, stage performances, and movies. Their most well-known work is the 1988–1995 TV sketch comedy show, also called The Kids in the Hall. They also made the 1996 film Brain Candy.
Foley is also known for his roles as Dave Nelson in the TV show NewsRadio. He voiced Flik in the animated movie A Bug's Life. Other notable roles include Troy in Blast from the Past, Dr. Fulton in The Middle, Bob in Hot in Cleveland, Gary O'Brien in Young Sheldon, and Danish Graves in Fargo. Dave Foley also hosted Celebrity Poker Showdown.

Early Life
Dave Foley was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. His birthday is January 4, 1963. His mother, Mary, is from England. His father, Michael, worked as a steamfitter.
Career
Acting and Comedy
After leaving high school, Dave Foley tried stand-up comedy. He spent about a year at the Toronto Second City Training Centre. There, he started taking improv classes. He met Kevin McDonald there, who helped him get a job as an usher.
In 1984, Foley, McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson formed The Kids in the Hall. Their TV show, The Kids in the Hall, started in 1988. It ran until 1995. Dave played many funny characters on the show. These included Hecubus, one of the Sizzler sisters, and Mr. Heavyfoot.
Foley later joined the cast of the TV show NewsRadio. The show's creator, Paul Simms, was a big fan of Dave's work. He wrote the role of Dave Nelson especially for him. Many of Dave's own habits, like his love for coffee, were used in his character.
In 1999, Dave played Troy in the movie Blast from the Past. He was also reunited with NewsRadio writer Joe Furey. Dave recorded a special featurette called Working with Joe Furey. In January 2013, Foley released his own stand-up comedy special, Relatively Well.
In the comedy-thriller The Wrong Guy, Foley played Nelson Hibbert. His character mistakenly thought he was a suspect in a crime and ran away. In 2001, he played a boss in the film On the Line. Dave also hosted a CBC Christmas Special. In 2004, Foley became the host of Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo.
He played a high school principal in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In 2011, he appeared in How I Met Your Mother. From 2011 to 2012, Foley played Jerry Dunham in the sitcom How to Be a Gentleman. In The Middle, he played Dr. Fulton. This character was Brick's school therapist.
From 2013, Foley played Detective Bob Moore in the sitcom Hot in Cleveland. He also starred in Robson Arms and Spun Out. Foley appeared in ABC's Dr. Ken. In 2023, he played Danish Graves in the fifth season of Fargo.
Dave Foley has also lent his voice to many animated characters. He was Flik in A Bug's Life. He also voiced Flik in a small appearance in Toy Story 2 and Cars. He was Yes Man in the video game Fallout: New Vegas. He voiced Terry in Monsters University and Wayne in the Prep & Landing series.
Web Series
In 2009, Dave Foley starred in a web series called The Sensible Traveler with Bobby Fargo. This series had six episodes. It became very popular online.
Music Video Appearances
Dave Foley has appeared in several music videos. In 1993, he was in the video for "Heterosexual Man" by the band Odds. He appeared with Mark McKinney and Kevin McDonald.
He also appeared in fellow Kids in the Hall member Bruce McCulloch's music video "The Daves I Know". In 2008, he was in the music video for "Americanarama" by Ottawa band Hollerado. He also appeared in their video for "Desire 126". In 2012, Foley starred in Off!'s music video for "Borrow and Bomb". He played a "professional educator" named Dale Antwerp.
Personal Life
Dave Foley married Canadian writer Tabatha Southey in 1991. They later separated. They have two children together.
Foley married actress Crissy Guerrero in 2002. They separated in 2008. They have a daughter, Alina Chiara Foley, who is also an actor. Crissy and Dave got remarried on December 31, 2016.
Dave Foley has spoken about his health. After a health issue, he felt much better. He moved to New York City in 2022. He is a big fan of coffee. He once joked about drinking "50 cups a day when I am on set". This love for coffee was even used in an episode of NewsRadio.
