David Eugene Garnett (born December 6, 1970) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Dave played for the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. He was a professional football player for four seasons. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Stanford University.

David Eugene Garnett was born on December 6, 1970. His hometown is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up and went to high school in Naperville, Illinois. Dave attended Naperville North High School.
College Football Career
Dave Garnett was a key player for the Stanford Cardinal college team. He played for four years, from 1989 to 1992. He earned a "letterman" award each year, which means he was a top player on the team.
As a freshman in 1989, he played in ten games. He started five of those games. He made 51 tackles that season. In 1990, he was the third-best tackler on his team. He had 65 tackles. He also received an honorable mention for the All-Pac-10 team.
In 1991, Dave was second on the Cardinal team in tackles. He made 64 tackles. He missed one game because of a broken thumb. For the second year in a row, he earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors.
Professional Football Career
Dave Garnett was not chosen in the main 1993 NFL draft selection. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings on May 4, 1993.
Minnesota Vikings (First Time)
In his first year, 1993, Dave played in all 16 games for the Vikings. He made 11 tackles. He also played in one playoff game that season. In 1994, he played in nine games. He recorded five solo tackles and two assisted tackles. He also recovered two fumbles.
Carolina Panthers
In 1995, Dave was picked by the Carolina Panthers in the 1995 NFL expansion draft. This draft allowed new teams to choose players from other teams. However, he was released by the Panthers on May 22, 1995.
Denver Broncos
Dave then signed with the Denver Broncos on May 31, 1995. He was released on August 22, but he signed with them again on October 3. He played in three games for the Broncos in 1995. During these games, he made two solo tackles and one assisted tackle. He was released again on October 24, 1995.
Minnesota Vikings (Second Time)
