Dawud Anyabwile was born on February 6, 1965, in Philadelphia. He is a talented African-American comic book artist. Dawud is famous for drawing the Brotherman: Dictator of Discipline comic books. He also leads a company called Big City Entertainment. His amazing artwork is kept in a special collection at the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dawud Anyabwile's Creative Journey
Dawud Anyabwile finished high school at Central High School in Philadelphia. After that, he studied art at Rutgers University and Temple University. He spent about a year at each school learning more about art.
Starting as an Artist
Dawud began his art career in 1984. He started by airbrushing T-shirts at The Gallery Mall in Philadelphia. This was a fun way for him to use his artistic skills.
Creating Brotherman Comics
In 1989, Dawud teamed up with his brother, Guy A. Sims. Together, they created the Brotherman: Dictator of Discipline comic book series. Guy A. Sims wrote the stories, and Dawud Anyabwile drew the pictures. They published eleven issues of Brotherman. The first one came out in April 1990, and the last one was in July 1996.
Working on Popular Cartoons
Dawud also worked on many well-known projects. In 1996, he helped create games for the Pink Panther and worked on the TV show Daria for MTV. Later, from 1999 to 2001, he moved to California. There, he worked on popular cartoon shows like The Wild Thornberrys and Rugrats.
After that, Dawud moved to Atlanta, Georgia. From 2005 to 2013, he worked at Turner Studios. He created storyboards and designs for many famous brands. These included Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, Boomerang, Turner Sports, and NBA TV.
New Brotherman and Other Graphic Novels
In 2015, Dawud worked with his brother Guy A. Sims again. They also teamed up with colorist Brian McGee. They published a new graphic novel called Revelation. It was the first part of a new Brotherman: Dictator of Discipline series.
That same year, Dawud also illustrated Monster: A Graphic Novel. This book was an adaptation of Walter Dean Myer's original novel, Monster. Guy A. Sims wrote the graphic novel version.
