DeAndre Carter (born April 10, 1993) is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver and return specialist for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Sacramento State Hornets. DeAndre Carter has been a part of many NFL teams throughout his career.

College Football Journey

DeAndre Carter went to Sacramento State for college. He played as a wide receiver there. In 2014, he was named a first-team Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-American. This was a big honor! That year, he caught 99 passes for 1,321 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.

During his college career, DeAndre played in 41 games. He had a total of 207 receptions for 2,760 yards and scored 35 touchdowns. He also helped his team with kick and punt returns.

Playing in the NFL

DeAndre Carter started his NFL journey in 2015. He has played for many different teams, showing his skills as a wide receiver and a return specialist.

Baltimore Ravens

Carter first signed with the Baltimore Ravens in May 2015. He did well in training camp, but he was released before the regular season started.

Oakland Raiders

In September 2015, Carter joined the practice squad of the Oakland Raiders. A practice squad is where players train with the team but aren't on the main roster. He was released from their practice squad in December 2015.

New England Patriots

DeAndre then joined the New England Patriots practice squad in December 2015. He signed a "futures contract" with them in January 2016, which meant he would be with the team for the next season. However, he was released by the Patriots in September 2016.

San Francisco 49ers

In February 2017, Carter signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. He was later waived (released) but then signed to their practice squad. He signed another contract with them in January 2018 but was waived again in May 2018.

Philadelphia Eagles

Carter signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in July 2018. He made it onto their main team roster! In his first NFL game, he caught a 10-yard pass. He also took over kick and punt return duties for a short time. He was waived and re-signed to the practice squad a couple of times before being waived again in November 2018.

Houston Texans

Right after being waived by the Eagles, the Houston Texans claimed DeAndre Carter in November 2018. He stayed with the Texans for a while, even signing a new contract in March 2020. He was waived by them in November 2020.

Chicago Bears (First Time)

The Chicago Bears claimed Carter in November 2020. He was briefly placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list but was activated in December.

DeAndre signed with the Washington Football Team in April 2021. He had a great moment in Week 4 when he returned a kickoff 101 yards for his first career touchdown! This earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. He also scored his first receiving touchdown in Week 8.

Los Angeles Chargers

In April 2022, Carter signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. In his first game with them, he had 64 yards and a touchdown on three catches, helping his team win.

Las Vegas Raiders

Carter signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in March 2023.

Chicago Bears (Second Time)

In June 2024, DeAndre Carter signed a one-year contract to return to the Chicago Bears.

Cleveland Browns

On March 19, 2025, Carter signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. He is currently playing for them.
