Decatur is a city located in Benton County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,773 people lived there. It is part of the larger Northwest Arkansas area. The city was named after a famous naval hero, Commodore Stephen Decatur, Jr..

Where is Decatur?

Decatur is in the western part of Benton County. You can find it at these coordinates: 36°20′15″N 94°27′24″W / 36.33750°N 94.45667°W / 36.33750; -94.45667. Arkansas Highway 59 runs through the city. This highway goes north about 6 miles (10 km) to Gravette. It also goes about 13 miles (21 km) further north to the Missouri border. If you go south on Highway 59, you'll reach Siloam Springs in about 13 miles (21 km).

Arkansas Highway 102 also passes through Decatur. It goes east about 16 miles (26 km) to Bentonville. To the west, it goes about 10 miles (16 km) to the Oklahoma border.

The historic Kansas City-Southern Depot was built in 1920. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
