Deerwood is a small city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, about 526 people lived there. It is part of the larger Brainerd area.

History of Deerwood

Deerwood was first planned out in February 1892. It officially became a city in October 1909. The city got its name because there were many deer in the woods nearby. A post office was set up in Deerwood in 1882.

Geography of Deerwood

Deerwood covers a total area of about 2.05 square miles (5.31 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with some water. Even though it's a city, it is located within Deerwood Township. Nearby towns include Crosby and Ironton.

You can reach Deerwood by driving on Minnesota State Highways 6 and 210. Other local roads also connect to the city.
