Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (Japanese: 劇場版「鬼滅の刃」無限城編, Hepburn: Gekijō-ban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Jō-hen) is an exciting animated action movie from Japan that came out in 2025. It is based on the famous manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge. The movie is a direct sequel to the fourth season of the anime TV show.
This film continues the story after the events of the Hashira Training Arc. Unlike some previous Demon Slayer movies that were collections of TV episodes, Infinity Castle is a full-length movie. The story arc was so long and important that the creators at the studio Ufotable decided to make it into a movie trilogy. This film is the first of the three.
The movie was a huge success all over the world. It was released in Japan on July 18, 2025, and then in other countries in the following months. It broke many box office records and made $670 million, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film ever made. It was also one of the most successful films of 2025. Critics and fans loved the movie's amazing animation, exciting action scenes, and powerful story.

Production
The idea for the Infinity Castle movie trilogy started around the time the Mugen Train movie was released. The producers at Aniplex and the animation studio Ufotable felt the story was so big and important that it needed three movies to tell it right.
The production team, which included Aniplex, the manga publisher Shueisha, and the animation studio Ufotable, officially approved the plan. Work on the first movie began in early 2022, while the Entertainment District Arc of the TV series was still on air. It took about three and a half years to create the film.
Music
The music for the film was composed by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina. They also created the music for the Demon Slayer TV series and previous movies.
The movie has two main theme songs. The first is "Taiyō ga Noboranai Sekai" (太陽が昇らない世界), which means "A World Where the Sun Never Rises," performed by Aimer. The second is "Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake" (残酷な夜に輝け), which means "Shine in the Cruel Night," performed by LiSA.
Release
Theatrical Release
The first film was released in Japan by Aniplex and Toho on July 18, 2025. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing International handled the release in other countries around the world. The movie was shown in 443 theaters in Japan on its opening day.
Marketing
To get everyone excited for the movie, the creators teamed up with Major League Baseball (MLB). They made a special short film where the Demon Slayer character Sakonji Urokodaki explains the history of baseball. This was done to promote the movie and the opening game of the 2025 MLB season in Tokyo.
The official main trailer for the film was released on June 28, 2025. It was a huge hit online, getting more than 40 million views in just 24 hours on social media.
