Demone Harris, born on December 30, 1995, is an American professional football player. He plays as a linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, Demone played college football for the Buffalo Bulls.

Early Life and College Football
Demone Harris grew up in Buffalo, New York. He went to Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School. In high school, he mostly played basketball. He didn't start playing football until his junior year.
After high school, Demone went to the University at Buffalo. He joined the football team as a "walk-on" player. This means he joined the team without a scholarship at first. He also "redshirted" his first year, which means he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain an extra year of eligibility.
In 2017, during his junior year, Demone played very well. He was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy. This award goes to the most outstanding college football player who started their career as a walk-on. He was also named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in his college football conference.
Professional Football Career
Demone Harris began his professional football journey in 2018. He has played for several teams in the NFL.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Demone Harris on April 30, 2018. He joined them as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the NFL Draft but was signed by a team afterward.
He was first part of the Buccaneers' "practice squad." Players on the practice squad train with the team but don't play in games unless they are moved to the main roster. Demone was moved to the active roster on October 10, 2018. He played his first NFL game on October 14, 2018, against the Atlanta Falcons. He mostly played on special teams in that game.
He was later waived (released) by the Buccaneers and then re-signed to their practice squad in 2019.
Baltimore Ravens
On October 22, 2019, Demone Harris joined the Baltimore Ravens. He was signed to their practice squad. This happened after another Ravens linebacker, Pernell McPhee, got injured.
Kansas City Chiefs
Demone Harris was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on November 21, 2019. He joined them from the Ravens' practice squad. He played his first game for the Chiefs on December 8, 2019. In that game, he made his first career tackle against Rex Burkhead of the New England Patriots.
A big moment for Demone came on February 2, 2020. He and the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV. They beat the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 31–20. This was a huge achievement for Demone and his team.
He continued with the Chiefs in 2020. He played in one game that season. In that game, he made three tackles against Melvin Gordon of the Denver Broncos. Demone re-signed with the Chiefs in February 2021. He was later released and then re-signed to their practice squad. He was temporarily moved to the active roster for a couple of games in October 2021.
Houston Texans
On November 10, 2021, Demone Harris joined the Houston Texans practice squad. He signed a contract with them in January 2022. He was promoted to the Texans' active roster on September 10, 2022. He was later waived and re-signed to their practice squad again.
In August 2023, Demone was released by the Texans. At that time, he announced that he was retiring from the NFL.
Atlanta Falcons
However, Demone Harris did not stay retired for long! On August 15, 2023, he decided to come out of retirement. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He was waived by the Falcons later that month. But he was re-signed to their practice squad on September 18, 2023.
After the 2023 regular season ended, he signed another contract with the Falcons in January 2024. He was released by the Falcons in August 2024 and then re-signed to their practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on November 29, 2024.
