Dennis and Gnasher is a fun British animated TV show. It's based on the famous characters from The Beano comic. The show was first shown on BBC from April 1996 to May 1998. Later, you could watch repeats on CBBC until 2009.
The series was made by Collingwood O'Hare Productions and D.C. Thomson & Co. They worked with BBC Television and other companies. Tony Collingwood directed and wrote most of the episodes. A new version of the show, called Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, started in 2009.

Meet the Characters of Dennis and Gnasher
Who are the Main Characters?
- Dennis: He's the main character, a 10-year-old boy who loves to cause mischief! Most of the time, he's just having fun. But sometimes his pranks can cause big problems or even help others. Dennis has a few rivals, like his neighbour Walter. He even saved the world once!
- Gnasher: This is Dennis's loyal pet dog. Gnasher is an Abyssinian wire-haired tripehound. He's Dennis's best friend and helps him with all his adventures. Gnasher loves to ambush the postman! His teeth are super strong, and he loves bones.
- Dennis' Dad: Dennis's father often gets stressed by Dennis's pranks. He tries to make Dennis behave, but it's usually very hard!
- Dennis' Mum: She seems to handle Dennis's behaviour better than his dad. Dennis usually listens to her when she tells him off.
- Dennis's Granny, Gertrude: Even though she's eighty, Dennis's Granny is young at heart. Dennis loves her and often goes to her for advice. She used to be a mischief-maker herself when she was young! She rides a motorcycle and loves pizza.
- Curly: Dennis's best friend and a fellow mischief-maker. He always stands up for Dennis.
- Kevin "Pie-Face": Another one of Dennis's best friends. He's a bit silly and sometimes scared. He loves pies, which is how he got his nickname!
- Walter the Softy: Dennis's next-door neighbour and main rival. Walter is always annoyed by Dennis's pranks. He tries to get back at Dennis, but his plans always fail.
- Matilda: Walter's best friend and girlfriend. She's often with Walter and thinks he's great.
- Sgt. Slipper: A local policeman and another one of Dennis's rivals. He often deals with Dennis's antics. He can be a bit clumsy.
- The Colonel, Godfrey: A neighbour who lives across the street. He's a military veteran and always wears his uniform. His house looks like a military bunker, and he even has a tank!
- Foo Foo: Walter's pet poodle and Gnasher's rival. She tries to outsmart Gnasher but usually fails.

A New Dennis and Gnasher Show!
A brand new TV show about Dennis and Gnasher was made later! This new series brought back Dennis, Gnasher, Mum, Dad, Curly, and Pie-Face. It also introduced Dennis's little sister, Bea. The new show used to be on CBBC from Monday to Friday at 4:00 PM.
